Meditation

Meditation is an important part of healing.  In Thailand I trained at a vipassana meditation ashram called Wat Ram Poeng, located just outside of Chiang Mai city.  Vipassana, in the Buddhist tradition, means insight into the true nature of reality in which breath, thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions are used

Shiatsu Massage

In Varkala, India there is a place that teaches all types of healing modalities.  One of my favorite forms I trained in here was Shiatsu, which involved learning about the twelve meridian lines that relate to the vital organs in the body and the disease and symptoms associated with each. 

Wat Tam Wua Monastery

The most remarkable vipassana ashram is in Mae Hong Son city, Thailand.  The forest Monastery is called Wat Tam Wua and is nestled in the forest, surrounded by mountains with streams that wind their way through.  It’s a soothing and surreal environment.  The monk would teach us that we suffer

Thai Massage

In Chaing Mai, Thailand I learned traditional Thai massage.  The modality uses stretching and pressure along Zen or meridian lines.  The body is moved by the therapist into various positions, releasing tight muscles through deep pressure, stretching, and lengthening.  It can feel like a lazy yoga class for the client. 

Yoga

My yoga instructor at Chandra Yoga ashram in Rishikesh, India would teach us never to push ourselves.  Always treat our bodies with care and love.  Listen to ourselves.  Know our limits.  Allow the body to open without force.  Connect the breath with the movement to create a relationship with your
