Tantra is a dynamic form of meditation that is practiced with a partner. In India, there is a place called the Love Temple in Goa that offers Tantra classes. I was fortunate to be there for training by a guru named Hare Prem who was trained by Osho. Tantra is a heart-opening form of meditation that is normally practiced between a man and a woman.
We would start our sessions with a guided meditation from Hare Prem, first connecting our breath and grounding ourselves. When we are comfortable and centered, we move on to practice breathing techniques with a partner of the opposite sex. The male breaths in while the female breaths out, and vice versa, sharing our breath and energy with eyes gazing at one another. We then sit in the Shiva Shakti position. Intertwined in this sacred tantra position, the male sitting in an easy-seated position, and the female mounted over him, legs wrapped around his waist.
